What is DELTA GEMS?
Delta GEMS (Growing & Empowering Myself Successfully) is an expansion and continuation of the highly successful Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy. Delta GEMS was created to catch the dreams of adolescent high school girls ages 14-18.
Delta GEMS Goals:

Instill the need to excel academically.

Provide tools to enable girls to sharpen and enhance their skills to achieve high levels of academic success

Assist girls in proper goal setting and planning for their futures in high school and beyond

Create compassionate, caring, and community-minded young women by actively involving them in service learning and community service opportunities
The Delta GEMS framework is designed to provide specific skills that develop a CAN DO attitude through interactive lessons, workshops, hands-on activities that provide opportunities for self-reflection and growth.

About pwcac gems
The PWCAC Delta GEMS program goals directly align with the guidance of the national educational program framework to empower, educate, and develops self-assured young women.
We assist in fostering confidence, leadership, academic achievement, and personal growth through career exploration, scholarship and internship awareness, and community service. Each GEM is encouraged to discover their talents and pursue their goals.
We provide a positive, supportive environment as we collaborate with local, state, national and international organizations to enhance learning opportunities and prepare our GEMS for future success.
our program year
The Delta GEMS program meets at least once each month from September through May. Each program year begins with an Orientation in September, followed by an application deadline in October. Key annual activities include a career-focused event in February, a spring retreat, and an end-of-year Recognition Ceremony in May.
Our workshops provide learning experiences focused on civic engagement, global awareness, financial literacy, health and wellness, preparedness, and personal development. GEMS are encouraged to explore their interests and talents through fine arts, STEAM, and academic enrichment.
