Calling All Young Writers!

Fourth and fifth graders are invited to enter an exciting writing contest honoring the life, legacy, and inspiring words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Use your creativity to explore Dr. King's message of hope, courage, kindness, equality, and the power to make a difference. Let your voice be heard and show the world how you can help make dreams come true!

Contest Awards & Recognition
A panel of judges will select 2–3 outstanding essays from each grade level that best reflect the contest theme and demonstrate exceptional creativity and writing.
Winners Will Receive:

Recognition during the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Program on Monday, January 18, 2027.

A Certificate of Achievement honoring their outstanding work.

A monetary gift card in recognition of their accomplishment.

If publication deadlines permit, the winners' names will also be featured in the digital Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Souvenir Program distributed during the MLK Day celebration.

Please join us at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 18410 Chapel Street, Triangle, VA 22172 on Monday, January 18th at 11 a.m. to celebrate Dr. King's contribution to our nation! Doors open at 10 a.m.
